"Your characters are awesome!! Seems Catfish and Evening know each other, how did they meet?"

they do know each other! catfish was convicted of treason and is now wanted by the other sphinxes, so he had no choice but to run. evening was framed for arson, (keyword: framed) and was also hiding from the law. catfish was struggling because sphinxes, like cats, get separation anxiety easily and aren’t used to being alone for long periods of time.
to get more specific to the scene, both evening and catfish checked into the same hotel, and got to talking. they found out about the other’s situation, and it sparked a ‘hey, we’re going in the same direction, why not go together’ sort of deal. they started traveling together and now have a close, almost sibling-like relationship.
